Moral Checklist!!!

How Do I Avoid Evil?
It has been awhile since I used to carry this around in my pocket. But it is a nice list of character building virtues that should be acquired by everyone. These are from early Christian writings: The Epistle of Barnabus and The Didache. The full writings may be found here. While this is not exhaustive, it is a good start. I used to read it everyday and I think I’m going to start doing it again. The reason for this is because when we get around a group of people, it isn’t always good. We should have something available to help us remind ourselves how we are supposed to conduct ourselves. Religion is useless if it DOESN’T improve or set the standard of character a man’s behavior. There is no substance to that religion because the moral structure has been weakened because of ignorance and neglect.  All I know is that these things have kept me out of a lot of trouble and I know that they work.

Skype, the online phone service long favored by political dissidents, criminals and others eager to communicate beyond the reach of governments, has expanded its cooperation with law enforcement authorities to make online chats and other user information available to police, said industry and government officials familiar with the changes.Surveillance of the audio and video feeds remains impractical — even when courts issue warrants, say industry officials with direct knowledge of the matter. But that barrier could eventually vanish as Skype becomes one of the world’s most popular forms of telecommunication.

Dear Citizen,

For obvious reasons, there will be no Front Sight Joke of the Week this weekend. Instead, I would like you to forward this e-mail to everyone you know and ask them to forward it to everyone they know.

Politicians, city officials and businesses who support “Gun Free Zones” are killing us with their lunacy.

Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The horrifying extent of judicial immunity

Judges act like divinely coronated kings of the medieval past. It is time the judge created Doctrine of Absolute Immunity is eliminated.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       by Gary Trieste

GaryT   If you have ever found yourself in court, you probably know all too well the fundamental defects in all of our court experiences – the incredible bias, incompetence, pettiness, capriciousness and intentional negligence of the judges we come before.

And the worst injustices of the system, the lack of any effective redress when the judges go bad.

I don’t mind losing a motion, complaint or other court proceeding so much, if there is even a real objective reason for having lost, and it occurred while due process was in force.

State parks had $54-million hidden surplus, officials say

Los Angeles Times | July 20, 2012 | 0:22 PM

California’s state parks system secretly stashed away $54 million even as it was cutting services and threatening to close parks, officials announced today. The department’s director, Ruth Coleman, resigned, and her second in command was fired as the hidden surplus was revealed. The state attorney general’s office is conducting an investigation.

The announcement means the department has plenty of cash, even though it has been soliciting hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations in what was thought to be a desperate scramble to keep parks open.

Officials from the agency that oversees the parks department said the department has under-reported tens of millions of dollars for the last 12 years.

California Senate passes “anti-Arizona” immigration bill

SACRAMENTO (Reuters) – The California Senate passed a bill on Thursday that seeks to shield illegal immigrants from status checks by local police and challenges Republican-backed immigration crackdowns in Arizona and other U.S. states.

The Democrat-led state Senate voted 21 to 13 to approve the California Trust Act, dubbed by supporters as the “anti-Arizona” bill. It blocks local police from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.
“Today’s vote signals to the nation that California cannot afford to be another Arizona,” Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a Democrat who sponsored the measure, said in a statement.
